West Berbice man charged for killing Enmore teen in hit-and-run accident

Steven Pierre, 28, of Seafield Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB) was on Tuesday slapped with several charges in relation to the fatal accident which caused the death of a 16-year-old lad while his younger brother was seriously injured.

Pierre is accused of driving motorcar PLL 7855 in a manner dangerous to the public thereby causing the death of 16-year-old Sheldon Major.

Pierre was also charged for failing to report an accident and failing to stop after an accident.

The hit-and-run accident also rendered 14-year-old Christopher Pollard critical; he is said to be recovering.

It was only last week that the suspect was arrested by Police, several days after the accident occurred.

Pierre appeared at the Cove & John Magistrate’s Court before Her Worship Fabayo Azore and pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

He was placed on a total of $575,000.00 bail; the case has been postponed to July 14.
