[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two “well dressed” bandits on Monday, April 06 escaped with a quantity of cash and phone cards from a city hotel after a brazen daylight robbery.

According to officials from Sleepin-Guesthouse, Church Street, Georgetown; the incident unfolded sometime around 12:10hrs and fortunately, no one was injured.

It was during this process that the two young men brandished handguns and stormed the working space of the receptionist, demanding cash and other valuables.

Another staff member, who was close by when the incident occurred, was placed to lay face-down on the floor during the ordeal which lasted no longer than two minutes.

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage showed the two youngsters – one sporting an American Eagle branded black-tshirt – and the other a Faux leather jacket, entering the hotel and executing their plan in a short period.

While they wore hats as an attempt to conceal their identity, they are still easily recognizable to persons who may know them. The Manager explained that a quick check showed that the men escaped with some $460,000 cash and a quantity of phone cards.

He also told journalists that he is grateful that no one was injured during the ordeal pointing out that the Guyana Police Force responded within minutes of the first call being made to the police station.
