Did Channel Nine cost Steve Smith his wicket in the T20 international against India?
When feisty Indian cricket star Virat Kohli took a catch to dismiss Australian captain Steve Smith in Tuesday night’s match, he responded with a gesture that indicated his displeasure with the batsman’s talkative nature.
A mic’d up Smith had been giving a running commentary during his team’s run chase of 189 for victory at the Adelaide Oval in Australia.
Australia got off to a flying start, and Smith and Aaron Finch had them well placed at 1-89 before Smith hit an easy catch to Kohli at mid-off.
Kohli ran towards the pitch, with some hand gestures that appeared to suggest he did not appreciate Smith’s attempt at multi-tasking.
He had the last laugh after starring with the bat. Kohli smashed a career-best unbeaten 90, as Australia’s top order choked against spinners as India secured a 37-run victory. (Reprinted from ‘The Australian’)
