Venezuelans charged for illegally entering Guyana

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two Venezuelan Nationals appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty, charged with entering Guyana illegally.

The court heard that 34 – year – old Jose Leiva and Javier Salazar, 34, on October 15, 2015 at Charity, Essequibo, entered Guyana by sea, disembarking without consent of an Immigration Officer.

They pleaded guilty to the offense. According to the Prosecution, on the day in question, the duo came to Guyana and did not present themselves to any immigration authority.

In this regard, on November 25, 2015 police acting on information went to the Bel-Air home where they were staying and asked to check their documents.

They were both fined $30,000 each and failure to pay the money will result in three months imprisonment.
