[www.inewsguyana.com] – A vendor was granted $100,000 on a fraudulent conversion charge when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Monday, January 26 at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Roxanne Wray of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that between February 1 and February 28, 2013 at Georgetown she was entrusted with a quantity of jewellery valued $1.8M by Monty Spencer to keep and return but she converted the jewellery to her own use and benefit.

Police Prosecutor Bharrat Mangru presented no facts to the Court and had no objections to Wray being allowed her pretrial liberty. He asked, however, that reporting conditions be attached if bail was granted.

Bail was granted with the condition that she report to the Subordinate Officer in charge of the Fraud Division at the Brickdam Police Station every Friday. The Prosecution was ordered to file statements and the case was transferred to Magistrate Ann McLennan for February 16.
