Use Holy Month of Ramadan to reach out to less fortunate – PPP urges

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has issued the following statement in observance of the Holy month of Ramadan:

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) joins with the entire Muslim community in the observance of the Holy month of Ramadan.

This is the time of the year when Muslims fast and reach out to the less fortunate in our society in the spirit of care, compassion and brotherhood.

These are universal values and precepts which are fully embraced by the PPP.

The PPP is not unaware of the stressful conditions under which the Guyanese people are subjected despite promises by the Granger administration to create a “good” life. The so-called good life has turned out to be nothing but a mirage except for the few who walk the corridors of power.

The PPP will continue to represent the cause of the poor and the downtrodden. In this regard, the Party found common cause with the teaching of Islam which essentially is based on the creation of a society based on the principles of brotherhood, care and compassion.

The PPP urges Guyanese, in particular our Muslim brothers and sisters, to reach out to the poor and needy in our society.
