Upholster facing fraud charge released on bail

handcuffs[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 40 – year – old Upholster was granted $75,000 bail on a fraudulent conversion charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today (January 09).

Sherwin Prince, of Lot 136 La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that between March 1 and 31, 2014 he was entrusted with $150,000 by Floyd Harris to purchase building materials but he fraudulently converted the cash to his own use and benefit.

Police Prosecutor Bharrat Mangru presented no facts to the court and had no objections to bail being granted.

Making a bail application, his lawyer, Clyde Forde said that Prince had no previous charges or convictions and was not a flight risk. Bail was granted and the case will be called again on February 5 for statements.
