Update: Police seeking identity of man in Carifesta Avenue fatal accident

On the heels of a fatal accident on Tuesday morning on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown, police are seeking the public’s assistance in the identification of the deceased.

Based on information received, the dead man has only been identified as a male of East Indian ancestry.

INews had reported that the incident occurred at about 03:00h on Tuesday.

According to the driver of the minibus –BWW4632- involved, he was proceeding west along the southern carriageway on the Avenue when he suddenly felt an impact and he stopped.

Upon investigating, the suspect reportedly discovered the victim lying on the roadway with his head smashed and the contents thereof strewn along the road.

The 48-year-old driver of Cove and John East Coast Demerara, has since passed a breathalyzer test.

However, he is in police custody assisting with the investigation.

His vehicle has also been lodged.
