After much mystery, the Government Information Agency (GINA) yesterday (September 9) revealed that the Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves met President Donald Ramotar for bilateral talks after a visit to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat.

According to GINA, “The Prime Minister, who holds the Transport portfolio in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet, will assume the Chairmanship of the 15- member community on January 14, 2013.”

During his visit, Gonsalves held discussions with CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque and members of the Secretariat’s Executive Management Committee.

Yesterday, iNews reported that the Prime Minister has been in Guyana since Sunday, but no official confirmation was forthcoming from the government as to the reason for the visit. GINA sent out a press statement on the issue, following a publication from iNews asking the reason for the PM’s visit.
