Update: Mother of four shot dead, sister injured

[www.inewsguyama.com] – A mother of four is  now dead, while another is currently a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital after two masked men entered their two storey wooden home at Lot 10, Section B, Fyrish on the Corentyne late Friday night (March 7).

Dead is 48 – year – old Patricia Samaroo of Fyrish Village who sustained two gunshot wounds – one to the head and to the shoulder – while her sister Annetta Samaroo sustained one gunshot wound to her stomach and was rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for medical attention.

According to information received, the two women and their family of eight were all at home watching television when the two men barged into the house and identified themselves as Police Officers.

iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) was informed that one of the masked perpetrators pulled out a firearm and started firing shots in the house hitting Patricia Samaroo to her head and shoulder.

According to the son of Annette Samaroo, after the his mom was shot to the stomach, his aunt (Patrician) shouted two names and asked what they were doing and as a result, the men fired two shots in Patrician’s direction, killing her on the spot.

Patrician leaves to mourn her four children. The murder comes at a time when Guyana joins the rest of the world in observing International Women’s Day.
