[www.inewsguyana.com] – The family of 24 – year – old taxi driver Roopchand Darsan, who was shot and killed late Friday night (March 29) is looking for clues as to who would have committed such a cruel act.

Darsan, also known as Dave of lot 98 Logwood Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara was gunned down in his car on the Strasthpey Railway Embankment.  Police confirmed that he received a suspected bullet wound to the head.

iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) was reliably informed that the man received a telephone call at home around 23:00 hrs from person (s) asking to be picked up.

He left home and never returned. His family is baffled as to who would want to kill him.

During an interview with iNews (www.inewsguyana.com), his father Roopnarine Darsan said that he was at work when he got the message about his son’s death just after 1:00 am on Saturday.

The grieving Darsan said that he visited the scene and found his son’s lifeless body slumped over the steering wheel.

According to the weeping father, the police assisted in pulling the man’s vehicle back to the road shoulder and he was taken out and placed into a hearse.

Meanwhile, Latchmin Darsan, the mother of the dead man related to iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) that she was asleep when she got the message about the death.

The woman recalled being awoken by two young men, who were shouting for her at the gate. They informed her that her son was shot dead. She too, hurried to the crime scene.

Relatives told iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) that the man worked with a taxi service in Enmore and when he is off duty from the service, he would usually do his personal taxi work.

He has been a taxi driver for the past five years. Roopchand leaves to mourn his parents and his sister. A police investigation is underway.
