Update: 3 arrested following high speed chase

After almost an hour of chasing behind a suspicious car with fake registration plates, the police earlier this morning apprehended three men, one of whom was identified as an ex-officer of the Guyana Police Force.

During interrogations, two of the men gave their identifies as Eloy Livan, 28, of Lot 47 Richards Town, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara and Devon Chase, 30, of Hill Street Albouystown. However, the third suspect refused to cooperate with the police.

Based on reports received, police ranks observed a heavily tinted motor car with a number plate they suspected to be fake  and approached same. However, after realizing the police were closing in on them, the occupants of the motor car sped off with the police however, tailing in hot pursuit.

After speeding through several streets in Georgetown, the driver of the tinted vehicle lost control and ended up in a ditch at the corners of Lamaha and Republic Streets. With the vehicle immobile the police were ably to confirm their suspicions over the fake plates.

Reports indicate that a 9mm pistol and 10 live rounds of ammunition were also found at the scene.

The police are still trying to ascertain the owner of the vehicle and a ballistic test will be conducted on the gun to determine if it was used to commit any crime. Investigations are continuing.

  1. Just imagine ex cop involved. I am not surprised and I am sure he still has his connections with others within the force. So disgraceful
