UG student beaten, carjacked by armed bandits who trailed him


A Herstelling man was on Monday evening accosted by bandits in front of his home after returning from classes at the University of Guyana (UG) and reportedly robbed of his vehicle, a Toyota Premio, bearing registration number PVV 4911.

According to police information, the man was reportedly trailed from Georgetown to his home and as he was about to enter his yard, a group of unidentified men approached him, whipped out their hand guns and proceeded to beat the young man about his head.

After he began to bleed profusely, the men fled the scene in his silver/grey vehicle and made good their escape.

So far, the vehicle has not been recovered and police have not been able to apprehend anyone in connection with the robbery.

Nevertheless, investigations are ongoing.
