[www.inewsguyana.com] – The United States Government, through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), provided Carrier Liaison Program (CLP) training in Georgetown from August 11-15, 2014 at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
This program provided standardized training and assistance to international air carriers related to admissibility and fraudulent document detection in order to encourage carrier compliance with U.S. Immigration Laws.
Approximately one hundred employees from local airlines and security companies including Caribbean Airlines, Fly Jamaica, Roraima Airways, Travel Span Inc, New Timehri Handing Service Inc., and Suriname Airways were trained with the aim to enhance border security by increasing commercial carrier effectiveness in identifying improperly documented passengers destined to the United States.
CLP allows participants to engage in hands –on instruction in fraudulent document identification, passenger assessment, impostor identification and United States entry requirements.
The CLP team has developed innovative training products, including a sample travel document that allows participants to examine dozens of common security features. The general audience for this training is airline check-in personnel, boarding agents, and security company staff.
The CLP reduces carrier penalties and costs associated with improperly documented customers travelling to the United States for airports who have received this training.
CLP training is delivered at U.S. ports of entry and at airports abroad by experienced CLP officers and is customized to meet the needs of specific carriers or locations based on performance analysis or emergent circumstances. CLP officers also assist carriers to develop and implement strategies to reduce travel document abuse.
This is very much needed to avoid all the scams that’s ongoing today. also I do hope it will ease the hassle it causes at checking in and out.
