Two arrested by citizens after stabbing miner in attempted robbery

POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING[www.inewsguyana.com] – Public spirited citizens managed to capture two bandits who stabbed a miner in an attempted robbery after exiting a minibus at Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara on Sunday, July 19.

According to a police report, at about 14:30 hrs, Clint Gunput, 25 years, of Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, was attacked by two men armed with knives as he exited a mini-bus on the Pouderoyen Public Road in an apparent attempt to rob him. The men had travelled in the same vehicle with him from Georgetown.

Public spirited citizens, who were in the vicinity, responded and went to the assistance of the victim and arrested the perpetrators after a short chase. They were both handed over to the police and are in custody.

Gunput however, sustained stab wounds to his body during the attack and has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital for medical treatment.

  1. It is good citizens are helping with these thugs. They have to be careful these thugs are heartless people. I am happy they did not beat them to death, good move guys.
