TV, Radio stations receive licenses from Broadcasting Authority

[www.inewsguyana.com]The Guyana National Broadcasting Authority handed out nine licenses on Friday under the new broadcasting act.

MTV Channel 65, Television Guyana Inc, GWTV Channel 2, Pinacle Tv Inc and CNS Channel 6 were granted licenses for television broadcasting.

RGI and Telcor Broadcasting Inc were granted licenses for Radio broadcasting while Atlantic Network Inc and E-Networks for cable.

Chairperson of the GNBA Bibi Shadick said the license must be exhibited in the place of business. In addition they will be advertised in the Gazette soon.

She explained that there were some stations who tried to make last minute negotiations, but this could not be done. However, Shadick hopes that by October 31 they will get themselves in order. [Akash Ramlackhan]
