Tucville man accused of slapping girlfriend


Quason Roberts of 22 Tucville Squatting Area pleaded not guilty to an assault charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry.

Roberts allegedly committed the offence against Candacy Thompson who he is currently in a relationship with.

The court heard that on July 07 at Tucville Squatting Area; Roberts assaulted the woman. Police Prosecutor Vernette Pindar disclosed that on the day of the incident at about 8:45h the Virtual Complainant was heading home when the accused came with a car and asked the woman to get in.

The Prosecutor said the woman refused and Roberts grabbed her by her neck and slapped her several times.

When asked if he had anything to say about the matter, Roberts said the woman chucked him and spit in his face.

The Police Prosecutor did not object to bail and Roberts was sent on his own recognizance.

Both parties were bonded to keep the peace pending the outcome of the matter with their next court date set for July 23. (Royan Abrams)
