Trio charged for ganja possession

Three men from the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) appeared before Magistrate Easter Sam at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, all charged for the possession of cannabis.
Twenty-one-year-old Satesh Jaharan of Anna Regina New Housing Scheme was on Tuesday granted bail after he denied the charge which stated he was caught smoking cannabis.
The prosecution is contending that Jaharan was arrested on August 30, 2017, after he was seen smoking the illegal substance. Bail was granted in the sum of $15,000 and he is expected to return to court on October 3.
In another case, Paul Singh, of Lot 28 Aberdeen Village, was fined $30,000 after he was caught with two grams of marijuana. The prosecution’s case stated that on September 4, 2017, Police ranks caught the 22-year-old with the illicit drug. He was sentenced to community service. He is expected to report to the Anna Regina Police Station to conduct cleaning three hours daily.
Meanwhile, Ricardo Edwards of Lot 983 Charity Housing Scheme, was on Tuesday granted bail after being charged for smoking cannabis. The 39-year-old was arrested on September 3, 2017.
He denied the charge and was released on $15,000 bail. The case will continue on October 2.
