The Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) has officially released its 2026 Race Schedule, promising one of the most diverse and action-packed years in recent history.

The new calendar confirms the return of competitive racing to the counties of Essequibo and Berbice, and introduces an entirely new Time Attack Series.

The 2026 season kicks off on February 1 with the gruelling Dakota 100 Championship (Round 1), setting the stage for a year that blends endurance, precision, and raw speed.

Time Attack Series debuts: For the first time, the GMR&SC is introducing a dedicated Time Attack Series, adding a new dimension to local motorsport. Unlike wheel-to-wheel racing, this format challenges drivers to race against the clock, emphasising precision driving and vehicle setup.

The three-round series is scheduled for:

  • Round 1: February 15
  • Round 2: August 16
  • Round 3: November 22

Drag racing returns to the regions: In a move sure to delight fans outside of Georgetown, the club has confirmed the return of drag racing to the regions. The roaring engines will head to Essequibo on March 29 and later to Berbice on October 18, decentralising the sport and bringing the action directly to community fans.

These regional events complement the national Drag Race Championship, which features three rounds at the South Dakota Circuit, including a major international meet on September 27.

Circuit Championship & endurance: The premier Circuit Championship remains the centrepiece of the calendar, with Round 1 slated for April 12. The season culminates in the massive International Circuit Championship on November 1, traditionally the year’s largest motorsport event in Guyana.

Endurance fans will also see a full season of the Dakota 100, with rounds spread across February, May, and September, testing the reliability of both man and machine. With events scheduled almost every month from February to November, the GMR&SC 2026 season is poised to deliver non-stop excitement for competitors and spectators alike.
