Three years jail for Essequibo labourer busted with cocaine

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – three – year – old Essequibo labourer,  Mark Simion of Bush Lot village was sent to prison for three years on Wednesday, November 20 and fined $30,000 for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

The labourer, who appeared before Essequibo Magistrate Sunil Scarce in the Anna Regina Court to answer to the charge pleaded guilty. He was unrepresented in court.

The particulars of the case state that on November 18, while police officers were on patrol on the Bush Lot public road when they observed that the labourer was acting in a suspicious manner.

He was stopped and searched by Officers who discovered three grams of cocaine in his pants pocket.
