[www.inewsguyana.com]The third man who was shot by the police during an attempted robbery on Saturday night (October 12) just moments ago succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital, hospital officials confirmed.

Dead is Mario Gouveia of Hogg Street, Albouystown. Gouveia, along with two of his accomplices were shot by the police on Saturday night, as they attempted to rob the K&VC hotel on South Road, Georgetown.

Gouveia was under police guard at the hospital. The two others – 19-year-old Mark Anthony Joseph and 20-year old Jermaine Canterbury a.k.a known as ‘chow’ died on the spot.

Despite the denial of the men of being involved in an attempted robbery at the time of the shooting, iNews has however confirmed that the men were all previous arrested by police on robbery and attempted robbery charges.

As a matter of fact, Gouveia currently has an attempted robbery case in the court.

When iNews visited the hospital on Sunday October 13, the now dead Gouveia denied knowing the other two men. However, iNews was reliably informed that the men are all related and reside in the same community. Gouveia sustained gunshot injuries to the head and body.

Mario Gouveia was released from prison on May 06, 2013, on bail in the sum of $200,000.00, after being charged with robbery under arms committed on Cecil Gajadhar on March 25, 2013.
