[www.inewsguyana.com] – Nineteen – year – old Jarrel Reid of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore on a murder charge.

Particulars of the offence alleged that on Sunday, April 27 at Mabaruma, Upper Demerara River, he murdered Collin McLean.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Deneshwar Maindranaught told the Court that the accused and the deceased are known to each other. He said on the day in question, the two had an argument, when the accused became annoyed and dealt McLean several lashes to his head with a piece of wood.

McLean was rushed to the Mackenzie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The accused was represented by Attorney – at – Law, Kimberly Yearwood, who told the Court that her client had no brushes with the law before.

He will make his next Court appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Friday, May 2.
