Teenager among four dead in separate accidents on WCB road

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Four persons are now dead following separate accidents on the West Coast Berbice road last evening (December, 23).

The first accident occurred at the No 29 Village, which resulted in the death of 16 – year – old Yonette Branche of Rosignol Village, WCB. According to ‘B’ Division Commander, Brian Joseph, the teen and her family were returning to Berbice from Georgetown following their Christmas shopping, when her father – Alfred Branche – crashed into a parked canter.

Reports indicate that the man fell asleep while driving. iNews understands that the teen was sitting at the back of the car and sustained serious injuries.

She was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. That accident occurred at around 19:30hrs. The driver, his wife and another family member also sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, at No 6 Village, another accident claimed the lives of three friends, after the driver of the car crashed into a utility pole. Dead are: Pash Jienarine, 35, of Bath Housing Scheme and passenger, Rakesh Sukdeo, 33 known as Cerex of Bush Lot along with ChaitnarineMangru.

iNews was informed Chaitnarine Mangru aka Suren was driving behind his two friends when their car crashed into the pole. Suren stopped to render assistance when he came into contact with a live GPL wire and was electrocuted.

  1. The police is to be blamed. If they do their work PROPERLY (and stop taking bribes from drunken drivers) the roads will be SAFER.
