Four men, including a teenager, of Upper Corentyne, Berbice appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, earlier today, where they were charged for the brutal murder of Berbice carpenter Faiyaz Narinedatt.

Narinedatt was beaten to death and dumped on a roadway, allegedly after rejecting the sexual advances of a wealthy U.S.-based Guyanese who was implicated with the four who appeared in court today.

The four men were identified as 39-year-old excavator operator, Radesh Motie; unemployed 18-year-old Diodat Datt; 49-year-old labourer Harripaul Parsram; and 37-year-old hire-car driver, Nirone Yacoob.

The quartet, who was represented by Attorney-at-Law, Mark Conway, were not required to plea to the indictable charge which alleged that they murdered Narinedatt, a 27-year-old carpenter,  on November 1, 2016.

Public Prosecutor, Neville Jeffers requested two weeks to complete his file since he stated that the matter is still under investigation.

The matter was transferred to the Springlands Magistrates’ Court where the defendants are scheduled to make their next court appearance on December 08, 2016.

Initial reports of Narinedatt’s death had suggested that he was the victim of a hit-and-run accident. However, after relatives of the dead man contended otherwise, Police discovered that it was actually murder.

It was revealed that Narinedatt was at a party when he left to use the washroom. However, he was approached by another man, identified as a U.S.-based Guyanese, who attempted to fondle him.

Reports suggest that after Narinedatt rejected him, the man then ordered his friends to kill him, which they did by beating him then running him over with a motor car to stage a hit-and–run.

During investigations, the men were apprehended and they reportedly implicated the U.S.-based Guyanese whose name was given as Marcus Bisram.

Meanwhile, relatives of the implicated businessman then allegedly attempted to bribe law enforcement officials with $4M to cover the matter.  (Ramona Luthi)
