Murder accused: Trevon Williams

An 18-year-old male, Trevon Williams, was remanded to prison on Friday for stabbing a gold miner to death during an altercation last week.

The incident occurred at about 02:30 hours on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Caumeru, Wakapoa Village, Lower Pomeroon River in Region Two, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Nicholas Fredericks, also of Wakapoa Village.

Based on reports received, the two men, both gold miners, are from the same village and are known to each other.

On December 29, there was an altercation between the suspect and the deceased stemming from a previous row between relatives at a village function.

The altercation escalated, during which Williams used a pair of scissors to stab Fredericks at least four times – twice to his upper left side chest, once to his lower right side abdomen, and once to his left side ear.

Williams was subsequently arrested and confessed to committing the crime. He was then slapped with a murder charge and appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate Court on Friday.

He was not required to plead to the charge that was read to him by Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir and was consequently remanded to prison.

The teenager will return to court on January 12.
