Teen accused of stealing Lap Top granted bail

DSC05216[www.inewsguyana] – A teenager was today placed on $240,000 bail for the offence of break and enter and larceny when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman.

Eighteen – year – old Michael Anthony Harry of South Ruimveldt Georgetown initially pleaded guilty to the charge. However, based on his explanation, a not guilty plea was entered by the Magistrate.

The allegation is that on August 24 at South Ruimveldt Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling place of Malcolm Lovell and stole one Dell Laptop valued $240,000.

According to Police Prosecutor, Vishnu Hunt at about 15:00 hours on the day of the incident, Lovell secured his home and left to conduct business and upon his return at about 16:30 hours, his nephew informed him that he saw the accused walking out of the complainant’s yard with the laptop in his hand.

In his explanation, the accused told the court that he did not steal the computer, adding that he was at a party and that the complainant’s nephew told him that he will report to the police that he took the item. After hearing the case, the Magistrate granted bail and he is expected to return to court onOctober 01. [Royan Abrams]
