[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 45 – year – old Cattle Farmer was remanded to prison by Magistrate Ann McLennan for the illegal possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Kenneth Hazel of Lot 1067 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on September 18 at Crabwood Creek, he had in his possession 1.6 grammes of cocaine.

Police Prosecutor, Deniro Jones told the court that police ranks caught the defendant during a sting operation; the court heard that on the day in question, the ranks observed the defendant throwing an object on the ground when he was approached.

During his court appearance, Hazel broke down in tears and begged the Magistrate for leniency, noting that he is the sole breadwinner and caretaker of his child.

The tearful man said he has no family and he does not smoke the illegal substance. Bail was refused and the matter was transferred to the Springlands Magistrate’s Court for September 29.
