For the sixth year in a row, Jamaica Tallawahs, the local franchise in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Twenty20 competition will be fuelled by Foska Oats, which is distributed by Chas E Ramson. The announcement was made at what has become the annual team breakfast, which was held on Thursday at Melbourne Cricket Club.

For the third year in succession the Melbourne Cricket Club provided the backdrop for the only CPL franchise to have won the competition twice.

Christopher Ramson, Director of operations at Chas E Ramson was delighted to return as the sponsors of the Tallawahs. His company is the longest-serving sponsor of the team, as they came on board from year one of the competition.

“Jamaicans are very patriotic about food and sports and when the two are paired, it’s a winning combination. As Jamaica’s premier and only locally manufactured Oats brand, we understand this all too well. This is why Foska Oats continues to be a firm supporter of Jamaica’s development in sports. It was only fitting that we stand by the team for a sixth consecutive time, this year as team sponsors,” he said.

Ramson also committed to the continued long-term support of the team as it was announced that Chas E Ramson had increased their level of support to platinum sponsorship, although a figure was not revealed.

“Every year it becomes harder and harder for people to find sponsorship. We found that our love and passion for sports in general was a way for us to channel our energy into sports which is through cricket. Every year it gets better and better so we decided that on a long-term vision, the sport needs the investment, so we will be here as long as we can afford to,” Ramson revealed.

Three of the games to be contested by the Tallawahs this season will be played in Florida and Foska will be present at the venues Ramson outlined.

“We are very proud to announce that for the first time in the CPL history, the Foska Oats brand will have unrestricted access to activate in matches that will be played in Florida. This could not have come at a better time as we have observed significant increases in export over the past few years. This year we are estimating a 16% increase on last year’s sales. We are very excited at the opportunity to engage our customers in the diaspora and help to deliver a remarkable T20 experience.”

Jefferson Miller, CEO of the Jamaica Tallawahs, expressed his gratitude for the renewal of sponsorship by Foska Oats.

“Foska Oats has been with us since day one. Their continued support over the years has been nothing short of tremendous and we are very grateful to have them in our corner this season as a platinum sponsor.”

Professor Hilary Beckles, who is the vice-chancellor at the University of the West Indies and a director of the Tallawahs commended Foska Oats for their longstanding support of the Tallawahs, and also for the part they have played in the development of local cricket.

The two Tallawah games to be played at Sabina Park in Jamaica will be held on Tuesday, August 14 and Wednesday, August 15. Patrons can look forward to half-time excitement provided by the sponsors, free samples of Foska products, spot prizes and other activities. Fans can also win tickets to the matches by visiting the social media pages of Foska Oats. (Jamaica Observer)
