Stag ‘Supa 16’ starts in electric fashion

Cougars1[www.inewsguyana.com] – The inaugural Stag ‘Supa 16’ knockout tournament delivered an excellent opening night on Sunday when the home teams defended their turf at the Number 5 ground in Berbice.

‎Monedderlust came from behind to top Golden Stars of East Coast with a 2-1 win. Emitt Leacock took the lead for Golden Stars with a penalty kick in the 12 minute to end the half up 1-0.

With Golden Stars clinging to the lead, Travis Henry equalised in the 71st minute as the game would end 1-1.

However, Clifford Campbell would drop in the game winner in the first half of extra time at the 103rd minute mark.

Meanwhile, ‎the Cougars trounced the Soesdyke Falcons 3-nil. Sherwin Parris and Albert Anderson delivered the game’s first two goals in the final minutes of the first half while the Falcons gifted the Cougars a third goal with a 71st minute own goal.

‎Action in the tournament will continue in Friday evening at the Grove Community Centre ground.
