[www.inewsguyana.com] – Minister of Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony has denied having knowledge of goats being slaughtered at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in November of last year.
Dr. Anthony was grilled on the issue today, Thursday January 23 in the National Assembly by Member of Parliament of A Partnership of National Unity, Christopher Jones.
When asked about the issue, the Sport Minister said, “I am not aware that goats were slaughtered at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.”
When he was questioned further by Jones, Dr. Anthony said that he “heard” of an article being published in a local newspaper in relation to the slaughtering of goats, however, he did not see the article.
Upon furthering grilling by the APNU Parliamentarian, the Sport Minister explained that after he “heard” of the article, he sought to inquire and was assured that no goats were slaughtered.
“Nobody from the Ministry granted permission for goats to be slaughtered at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.”
Acting Speaker of the House, Bibi Shadick told Jones that he should not believe everything he reads in the newspaper. However, Jones noted that he has a photo of goats lying on a table, after being slaughtered and that a vehicle, which is registered to the Sports Commission was used to transport the dead animals.
