Six charged with driving under the influence of alcohol

[www.inewsguyana.com] – In its ongoing ‘name and shame’ campaign, the Guyana Police Force has arrested and charged six more persons for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Harrynarine Ramdass, of No. 78 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on December 07, while driving a motor vehicle on Dukestown Public Road, Corentyne. He was found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged at the Springlands Magistrate Court, but failed to appear and an arrest warrant has been issued for him.

Govindiadat Sasenarine, of 69 Section ‘A’ No. 70 Village, Corentyne, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on the same day while driving motor vehicle PRR 4062 on the Scottsburg Public Road, Corentyne. He was found to be above the legal limit of alcohol consumption. He pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $7,500.

Ghanraj Fairdine, of 155 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, WCD, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on December 06 while driving motor vehicle PLL 2179 on the Providence Public Road, EBD.

He was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate Court, where he pleaded not guilty. The matter is continuing before the court.

Raiesh Nevrang, of No. 76 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was stopped and tested on December 07 while driving motor vehicle HB 3172 on the Dukestown Public Road, Corentyne. He pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.

Devindra Umraw, of Windsor Forest, WCD, was stopped and tested and found to be above the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He was charged and appeared at the Providence Magistrate Court where he pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.

Delvon Abrams, of 13 Princetown, Corentyne, Berbice, was also stopped and tested. He was charged and appeared at the Springlands Magistrate Court on where he also pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.
