43-year-old Eon Archibald, a security guard who in 2015 attacked and chopped a man whom he accused of having an affair with his reputed wife, was on Thursday jailed for 5 years by Justice Sandil Kissoon after he offered the victim compensation in the sum of $300,000.

Archibald is being accused of attempting to murder Duane “Country” Wallace on June 4, 2015, at the Pavement View Restaurant and Bar, Georgetown.

Before sentencing, Archibald used the opportunity given to him to apologise for his actions. He told Wallace that he was sorry for what he had done as he was at the time “confused”.

However, Wallace told Archibald that even though he accepted the compensation, he did not accept the apology offered as he almost lost his life.

Kissoon then handed down the sentence stating that compensation could not excuse his actions.

Archibald initially professed his innocence but however changed his plea to guilty during his trial.

It was previously reported that Archibald attacked and chopped Wallace to his side when he saw him talking to his reputed wife, who was at the time a waitress at the above mentioned bar.

Archibald reportedly accused Wallace of having an affair with the woman.

An eyewitness had revealed that the defendant fired several chops at Wallace, who attempted to block same but was subsequently chopped twice.
