Second suspect charged with murder of Pike Street Businessman

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The second suspect accused of murdering businessman, Ashok Raghu outside the Botanical Gardens, Vlissengen Road, Georgetown on August 18 was today remanded to prison.

Twenty- Five – year old, Jermaine Otto, a Pork knocker of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, made his appearance before Magistrate Judy Latchman and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

The allegations state that Otto murdered Raghu of Pike Street, Kitty Georgetown, during the course of a robbery committed on the man and his wife ,Shyrazadi Raghu of property to the value of $4 million.

The Court heard that the couple was in their car [PGG 8291], when they stopped at the traffic light on Vlissengen Road and Regent Street. Otto and an accomplice allegedly rode up on a CG motorcycle at the driver’s side of the vehicle and shot Raghu to his chest.

The Court also heard that one of the men grabbed a haversack containing GUY$4 million. Shayrazadi held on to the haversack when she was shot in the thigh.

Otto was unrepresented and claimed that he has no knowledge of the incident. He told the Court that he does not have any money to hire a Lawyer.

On Friday last, 21 – year – old Travis McDougall, also of East Ruimvledt, was charged with the said offence. He was also remanded to prison.
