[www.inewsguyana.com]Boxing Coach Jeff Roberts, who runs the Roberts Boxing Gym, has sought to thank the sponsors and the Guyana Boxing Association for their 2013 support.

The former Amateur and Professional Multi – weight boxing champion of Guyana, described 2013 as a fairly successful one.

Despite starting the year with not many expectations after returning home, Roberts said that he is happy to achieve something at the end of the year.

The former country great who attacked also at the regional and North American stages, acquired a coaching certificate to give back to the sport.

The Roberts Champions Boxing Gym (RCBG) established in Berbice a few months ago has within its abode over 25 youngsters of both amateur and professional ranks.

The training base is at the People’s National Congress (PNC) building at Strand and St Magdalene Street in New Amsterdam.

The former glove man said that the team that participated in the South American Games in Peru, in August consisting of Flyweight Michael April (52kg), Bronze Medal, Junior Middleweight Travis Fraser (69kg), Silver Medal and Bantamweight Joel Williamson (56kg), Bronze Medal, from Berbice, along with Tefon Greene (49kg) also trained at the gym.
