[www.inewsguyana.com] – Kennard Persaud was remanded to prison on Thursday, February 05 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a robbery under arms charge.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence, which alleged that on September 10, 2014 at Laing Avenue, Georgetown, being armed with a gun, he robbed Stacy Mansfield of one gold chain valued $215,000.

The Court heard that on the day in question around 08:00 hrs, Mansfield was walking along Laing Avenue, when the accused came up to her and placed a gun to her head. He relieved her of the gold chain and then made good his escape.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant said it was only on February 04 that Mansfield saw Persaud and a scuffle ensued between them. Grant informed the Court that Persaud was previously convicted for an offence of similar nature.

Bail was refused and the matter was postponed to February 20 for the filing of statements.
