Rape accused, Dennis Marks who is said to have fatally stabbed Police Sergeant Linden La Rose, while injuring two other ranks yesterday, is presently under police guard as he continues to receive medical attention for his wounds.
Crime Chief, Wendell Blanhum told INews this morning that both police ranks who were injured had been treated by medical personnel at the hospital and sent home where they are recuperating.
He stated that Marks, upon being released from the hospital, will have to face the charges brought against him for murdering a policeman and assaulting two other officers.
INews understands that in relation to the rape accusation, the police will have to investigate further before any charge(s) can be brought against Marks for his alleged involvement in the crime.
Sergeant La Rose, who had been accompanied by the two officers, was stabbed to death during an attempt to arrest Marks at Matthews Ridge in Region One (Barima-Waini).
Reports indicate that La Rose was stabbed to his neck at about 17:30hrs yesterday while the two other injured ranks were stabbed to their chest and hands as they attempted to arrest the suspect.
Marks was subsequently shot by a rank to his right foot.
The policemen had reportedly gone to arrest the suspect after a juvenile reported that he (the suspect) had raped her.
