Puran Brothers Employee granted $15,000 bail for assault, disorderly behavior

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 32 – year – old employee of Puran Brothers Disposal Incorporated was on Tuesday, March 11 ordered to post $15,000 bail, when he appeared before Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond to answer to assault and disorderly behavior charges.

Leon Nero of Meadow Brook Squatting Area pleaded not guilty to both charges, one of which alleged that on Saturday, March 8 at Meadow Brook Squatting Area, he unlawfully assaulted Clairmont Ellis.

The other offence detailed that on the same day, at East La Penitence Police Station, he behaved disorderly.

Meanwhile, Ellis was also charged with threatening behaviour. He pleaded not guilty to the offence before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, which detailed that on March 8 at Meadow Brook, Squatting Area, with a cutlass he made use of threatening behavior to Nero.

He was placed on his own recognizance and his matter was transferred before Magistrate Chandan-Edmond. Both men will return to Court on April 7.
