[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Private Sector Commission (PSC) has written to the APNU+AFC coalition and the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) over what it seems “escalating hostility” as Guyana prepares for National Elections on May 11.

Chairman of the Commission, Ramesh Persaud told a news conference on Friday, April 24 that both of the political parties should be held responsible for the growing hostility.

“The Commission has noted with concern the seemingly escalating hostility with which candidates and supporters of the major political parties…this is an unfortunate and potentially dangerous development and we believe that all parties must accept responsibility for this situation,” said Persaud.

Persaud made it clear that the “campaign rhetoric needs to be toned down” as he pointed out that the current language being used by the politicians on the platforms is unnecessary.

“We would like to urge the leaders of the PPP/C and the APNU+AFC to confront and defeat this trend by coming together to make a joint statement which condemns all or any form of hostile behaviour and calls for tolerance on the part of each citizen, regardless of political persuasion,” the PSC Chairman lamented.

Persaud told reporters that thus far, the PSC is aware of reports coming from both political Parties about the infractions of the other.

He said that the Commission expects the political leaders to act in a manner that is conducive to Guyana’s societal gains and which will ensure a peaceful and nonviolent election.

Persaud also explained that the PSC is looking forward to the political parties signing GECOM’s code of conduct, but pointed out that it may be a bit late in coming.

It was also revealed that the PSC will be observing the Local polls on May 11 and will have a team of 35 persons to undertake that responsibility.

  1. Mother Sally, Are you really a woman? You’re so Unabashed and undaunted!
You definitely cannot be a lady! Is there none decent PNC women anymore?
Are you really Mother? OR are you Vanessa Kissoon? OR are you Sherlina Nageer?
You present yourself as one of those Impenitent BAMSY women of Linden.
I think you’re Juliet Atwell? OR Alieshaw Barker? definitely not the mother you claimed to be. No civilized lady would attack Progressive Businessmen the way you do! Shame on you! Shame on you PNC attacker!
PSC seems to be the only fair groups to call on both PPP and PNC to do the right thing. Shame on you Sally!

  2. This is a big joke as the so called PSC are nothing more than a bunch of unrepentant apologists for the despotic PPP. Let’s be serious – a fossilised relic as Kit Nascimento whom everyone is aware is a paid propagandist of the PPP and Eddie Boyer of National Hardware is a known soup drinker and sycophant-at-large in support of the PPP.
These two individuals could hardly be meaningful, trustworthy and credible members of the local private sector. Even the blind can clearly see the nonsense and crap being foisted on the local populace. Come May 12th., one expects to see both Kit Nascimento and Eddie Boyer dancing a different tune and Ramesh Persad of the PSC – is definitely a Johnny come Lately from all accounts.

In fact, the local PSC must be totally dismantled and replaced with a credible, respectable and forward looking organisation that truly represents the legitimate aspirations of the local business community.
