The proprietors of Shireen’s Grocery Store located at Lot 8 James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, succumbed while receiving medical attention at a city hospital after they reportedly consumed a poisonous substance in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Dead are Shireen Mohamed, 53; and Fazal Mohamed, 62.
According to reports received, the woman died just before noon on Wednesday, while her husband took his last breath at about 19:00hrs. The death of the couple has definitely sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents with more questions than answers.
According to information received, the couple lived in a separate apartment in the family house. Their five children also reside at the said address.
Post-mortem examinations on the bodies of Shireen and Fazal Mohamed are expected to be performed shortly.
