[www.inewsguyana.com] – A prisoner was found with marijuana in his anus during a routine search at the Camp Street Prison.
Thirty – year – old Odinga Edwards of Queens Street appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and pleaded guilty to the charge, which alleged that on April 24 at Camp Street Prison, he had in his possession 40 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
He was previously charged with robbery underarms and will now serve the 36 months imprisonment after serving a 54 months jail term, which will be completed by December.
Edwards was also fined $60,000.
Police Prosecutor, Joel Ricknauth told the Court that on the day in question, the prisoner returned from Ministry of Home Affairs after conducting a normal day of labour.
Upon his return, a search was carried out on his person, when Edwards was instructed to set himself in squatting position with his clothes off, when a four inches cylinder shape object fell out of his anus.
