Prime Minister Moses  Nagamootoo was, on Thursday,  presented with an autographed bat by the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ Manager, Omar Khan. The bat bore the signatures of all the Guyana Amazon Warriors cricketers that featured in the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016.

Khan said it is customary for the team to present senior government officials with special autograph bats as means of saying ‘thank you’ for the support given to the Amazon Warriors.

Upon receiving the memorabilia, Prime Minister Nagamootoo said he was very happy with the team and despite not winning the team gave Guyanese fans lots to be proud of.

The Warriors played four matches in Guyana at Providence early in July with sold out crowds showing their support for the home team.

The Amazon Warriors finished the league stage at the top of the points table with seven victories in 10 matches. The consistent team then progressed to their third final in four years with a four-wicket victory over the number two team on the points table, Jamaica Tallawahs.

The Warriors failed to lift their maiden title giving the Tallawahs their second title becoming the first team to win the championship more than once.
