[www.inewsguyana.com]Following a meeting today [Thursday October 3] between President Donald Ramotar and a team from A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), it was agreed that Police Commissioner [ag] Leroy Brumell will be confirmed in his position.

There have been many calls from sections of society for Brumell to be confirmed.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon earlier told reporters that the meeting between the President and the APNU team will focus on constitutional appointments.

When contacted by iNews, APNU Executive Member Joseph Harmon revealed that Brumell’s issue was discussed and that the APNU Leader, David Granger did not object to the Police Commissioner being confirmed.

Additonally, iNews was reliably informed that the President agreed to Brumell’s confirmation and will soon confirm him as Police Commissioner. APNU Member and Former Police Commissioner, Winston Felix just over a week ago demanded that President Ramotar confirm Brumell.

The government in response had said that it was the Opposition’s failure to meet, which was stalling the appointment. Brumell has been acting in the capacity for almost two years, following the death of the then Police Commissioner, Henry Greene.
