[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), having completed the 7th Cycle of Continuous Registration, is currently engaged in a number of crucial administrative works, as the Commission prepares to produce the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE).
According to a media release by GECOM, the Secretariat is conducting a thorough fingerprint cross matching exercise as it analyzes the fingerprints of registrants on both the existing National Register of Registrants as well as applicants for new registration and new databases to eliminate any/guard against multiple registrations.
It was noted that upon the completion of the fingerprint cross matching exercise, the GECOM Secretariat will move to produce the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE), which will be used in the prerequisite Claims and Objections exercise relative to the holding of General and Regional Elections.
“GECOM takes the opportunity to urge all persons who will be eligible to vote at the upcoming elections to check the extracts of the PLE that will be displayed in their respective communities of residence to ensure that their details are accurate and to apply for registration/change/corrections/transfers during the Claims and Objections exercise as might be necessary,” the GECOM release noted.
It was further noted that logistical and administrative preparations have long begun in earnest for the professional and transparent management of General and Regional Elections by GECOM.
The Commission now awaits the announcement by President Donald Ramator of the date for General and Regional Elections, after meaningful collaboration with GECOM.
