[www.inewsguyana.com] – The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is levelling allegations of discrimination against the APNU+AFC government as the administration moves ahead to conduct audits in some Amerindian Communities.

According to General Secretary of the PPP, Clement Rohee the APNU+AFC administration has targeted some 18 Amerindian Villages that are typical PPP supporters to conduct audits.

He said while this is being done, other communities are being ignored by the administration.

“From a total of one hundred and eighty seven (187) Amerindian Villages and Communities the Granger-led de facto government has specifically targeted. Eighteen (18) villages and communities to conduct these highly sensationalized investigations/audits. Interestingly, the chosen eighteen Amerindian villages and communities are all known to be supportive of the PPP. It is obvious therefore that the Granger administration has specifically targeted these villages and communities to be audited/investigated because they are not supportive of the APNU/AFC and the Coalition have opted to do so in a most discriminatory, high-handed and insensitive manner,” Rohee stated.

Given these allegation, the PPP General Secretary underscored that the peoples’ affairs must be conducted on principles of transparency and accountability and not in a “politically discriminatory manner.”

“If there is to be audits they must be done across the board and without fear or favour affection or ill will. To pick and choose is to invite suspicion,” he stated.

“What is all the fuss and big publicity about surrounding these investigations/audits of some Amerindian villages and Communities and why similar audits/investigations are not being done in other villages and communities especially in light of the statement by Joseph Harmon to the effect that there will be no “holy cows” in the execution of these investigations/audits,” the GS also questioned.

  1. Welcome to the witch hunt. Wonder if there would be an investigation with the criminal that execute a man on cc tv.,and is now roaming freely.

  2. Well, they have to audit where money was given away. Is it just coincidence that the money is found in the PPP/c stronghold. A blind person can see from the last elections where money was spent indiscriminately. Do you want them to audit Plaisance/ BV/Buxton and Goldengrove ECD. No. No money was spent in those places. You have to look where the money was spent.

  3. What resources were given to the villages that were generally anti-PPP? What is there to audit? Or could it be that you are trying to suggest that resources were equally distributed among the villages? Give us the names of the villages that received ATV’s and solar panels and other goodies from the former govt just a day or two before the elections. I bet they coincide with the 18 you highlighted.
