Porter stabbed to death in Vergenoegen, police hunting known suspect

The body of a 30-year-old porter, identified as Nair Khan, was this morning discovered in a pool of blood in Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).

According to information from the police, Khan of Bud Street, Line Top, Vergenoegen, was on Sunday night around 22:00hrs imbibing at the home of a colleague (currently being sought by police) at Burn Street, Vergenoegen, when an argument erupted over an accusation that the Khan was having an affair with the suspect’s wife.

The argument reportedly escalated and the suspect allegedly stabbed Khan who then fled the scene, leaving a trail of blood.

His body was reportedly discovered about 110 yards from where the incident occurred with a gaping wound on his left hand.

Investigators have since obtained a statement from the suspect’s wife who was present when the incident occurred.

Khan’s body is presently at Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination as investigations are ongoing.
