[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 21-year-old porter of Water Front Port Kaituma was charged with attempting to commit a murder. Steven Belle was not required to plead to the indictable offence which stated that on March 29 he and Brandon George Edward were at a shop, when Belle confronted Edward.

The Court heard that the victim did not want Belle to work with him on a truck and an argument developed between the two. It is alleged that the accused became annoyed and kicked the victim in his face.

He is also accused of stabbing the man several times to his abdomen. Belle escaped and Edward was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Port Kaituma Hospital from where he was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Belle was represented by Attorney – at – Law Euclin Gomes who requested bail, which was refused since the victim is still hospitalised.

Belle will return to court on April 3.
