Police shoot one of four suspected bandits during gunfire exchange

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A suspect in a robbery which took place at a shop at Success, East Coast Demerara last night was shot and injured by police while two others were arrested and also found to be injured.

Police say at about 21:40 hours, 29 – year – old Altaf Maidan and three other men were attacked and robbed by four men, two of whom were armed with cutlasses and one with a firearm.

The perpetrators took away cash and other valuables and as they fled the scene, the victims raised an alarm. It was at this point that members of the Community Policing Group and other public spirited persons responded and were later joined by police ranks.

There was an exchange of gunfire during which one of the suspects was shot and injured to his left foot. Two other suspects were also arrested, one of whom had injuries to his body, while the other man escaped in the motor vehicle used during the robbery.

The two injured suspects are under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital, while the other suspect is in police custody as the investigations continue.

  1. Gray just remember when they get kill, them boys will cry for justice, and the OPR will bow down to pressure, its the second time the guy on King street get shoot and we dont see And body crying justice for him, I am so angry he did not get them both,
