Police are currently hunting for three perpetrators who pounced on two security guards attached to the National Insurance Scheme (ECD) Melanie Damishana Branch and carted off with a large sum of cash.
INews was informed that the suspects attacked the two female guards at about 01:30h on Tuesday. The women were escorted to the back of the building where they were bound.
The unarmed men took the women’s service pistols and emptied them of the bullets before returning them.
The perpetrators then entered the building and made off with a metal safe containing over $600,000.
The guards managed to untie themselves before alerting the authorities to the crime.
The matter is being investigated.
