Police are on the hunt for four perpetrators who on Friday morning tied up Arvind Jagarnauth, a farm manager of the Uitvlugt Sugar Estate and his wife at their home, robbing them of almost $5M worth in jewellery and other valuables.

robberyCommander of ‘D’ Division, Stephen Mansell, told INews this morning that the incident was reported to have taken place around 03:30h on the day in question at the Jagarnauth’s Wales, West Bank Demerara (WBD) compound home.

He stated that the four men are said to have worn masks while executing the robbery with one being armed with a handgun and the other wielding a cutlass.

According to the Commander, they used plastic handcuffs to subdue the couple while carting off with a quantity of gold jewellery, ‘brand named’ perfumes/colognes and other articles valued at around $4,854,000.

They managed to escape before anyone could discover that the couple was being robbed.

Commander Mansell stated that at present investigations are on-going into the matter to ensure that the guilty parties are caught and that justice is served.
