[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Police Force says it has managed to destroy over 500 pieces of marijuana plants on Saturday, May 23.

According to a statement, the police conducted a drug eradication operation at Onderneeming Backdam, Essequibo, during which a field of approximately 500 cannabis sativa (marijuana) plants, about 3 feet in height, was found and destroyed.

The police noted that no arrest has been made thus far. The APNU+AFC government has promised to review Guyana’s laws with respect to the illegal plant.

Officials of the coalition during the 2015 elections campaign trail had pointed to the fact that persons were being handed harsh penalties for having small amounts of marijuana in their possession, hence the need for the laws to be reformed in this regard.

  1. Ganga also destroys our pleasure centre in the brain and slumbers our mental faculties.

  2. Ganga is the healing of the nation, I don’t know why it’s not legal, it can cure so many things, even racism leave the farmers alone let them plant the herb.
